Casino was a great film about a lifestyle full of greed, manipulation and betrayal. It takes some of the same basic formulas from Goodfellas and applies them to a different type of mob story, which is essentially about these guys who controlled Vegas casinos, skimmed off untaxed profits, and ended up destroying each other in their lust for money and power. Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone deliver solid performances, but the real star here is Joe Pesci. He plays Nicky with such a level of scumbaggery, it’s almost frightening.
