How to Make a Straight Flush in Poker
A straight flush is one of the best hands that can be made in poker. A straight flush is composed of five cards of the same rank, including the ace. The ace may be high or low, but it cannot wrap around K-A-2-3-4. An ace-high straight flush is known as a Royal Flush. However, even if you don’t have an ace-high straight flush, you can still get a royal flush.
The minimum hand that you can have before you can make a bet is usually a pair of jacks. This hand is necessary because you are required to make your first bet before you can make another one. If your hand is less than that, you can still make a bet. If you have a higher hand, you can raise to increase your bets. But be aware that raising is risky and requires a lot of patience.
When you play poker, you need to use poker chips. Poker chips are used almost exclusively in the game. If there are more than seven players, the game should be played with poker chips. The lowest value of the chips is the white chip. The red chip is worth five whites. The blue chip is worth two, four, or five reds. You will “buy in” to a game by purchasing chips. Normally, each player will buy in for the same amount of chips.
A player with a higher pair than the highest card in his or her hand wins. In the opposite situation, a player with a lower pair loses. If there are ties in the hand, the high card breaks the tie. A straight hand and two pairs are also the best possible hands to win. This type of hand is called an overplay. Once you have two pairs and a high pair, you can make a backdoor flush.
