How to Play Poker
Poker is a card game that requires the use of skill. It is played in private homes, in poker clubs and in casinos. It is also popular on the Internet.
How to play:
The player who has the best hand wins.
Before the game, each player must make a small bet called an ante. An ante gives the pot a value right off the bat and helps ensure that everyone’s chips are in the pot.
The cards are dealt face up in a series of rounds with each round distributing one card to each player. There are then a number of betting intervals.
After each interval, the players have the option to call, raise or fold.
When a player calls, it means that they would like to stay in the game until they see what other players are doing. When a player folds, they drop out of the game without having to bet again.
Discarding:
A poker player may discard his or her cards to improve their hand. This can be done by using an Ace, a King, a Queen or a Jack.
How to win:
The goal of a poker player is to create the best possible hand out of the seven cards that are dealt in a round. This can be achieved by using two cards from your hand and five cards from the table.
